Imagine being abruptly awakened from a deep sleep in the passenger seat during a four-hour journey home, only to hear your husband screaming—something I had never experienced in the thirty years I have known him. Startled, I had no time to ask questions or comprehend the situation before I felt the jarring impact. A young driver, exceeding 100 mph on the freeway, collided with our rear driver-side tire, devastating the tire and the entire left rear of our vehicle. This collision sent us spinning across the freeway, into another vehicle, and onto the dirt shoulder, where our car rolled five to six times.

Amid the violent turbulence, two thoughts raced through my mind: “When will the car stop?” and “Will we survive this?” My husband was driving, I was in the front passenger seat, and our two nineteen-year-old children were asleep in the back. It is significant to note that we were driving a Tesla sedan, which has a glass roof. Unbeknownst to us, our children had unbuckled their seatbelts and buckled them behind their backs to feel more comfortable during the ride.

While I struggle to recall the specifics of the accident, I distinctly remember the deafening sounds of metal crunching and glass shattering, the external chaos contrasted with an eerie silence inside the car. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, I heard a voice, which I later learned was my son, asking, “Is everyone okay?” There was silence. I could feel blood on my hands and was the first to respond, stating, “I’m okay, but I’m bleeding a lot and I’m not sure where from.” At that moment, I also noticed shards of glass and debris in my mouth. I could hear bystanders outside attempting to assist us; they were trying to roll the car over, and it dawned on me that we were resting on the passenger side.

Despite their efforts, they were unable to flip the car and resorted to breaking the windshield. Once they created an opening, they shouted for us to climb out. I went first, followed by our teenagers, but I did not see my husband. I immediately recognized that I was injured; the pain radiating from my hips to my rib cage made it difficult to breathe. My primary concern was the pain rather than the source of the blood. I called out for my husband, inquiring about his whereabouts. My children, now outside and crying, sat beside me. A bystander informed me that my husband was safe and was on the phone with emergency services. A nurse who had come to assist me noted that I had an open head wound and a gash on my right arm, explaining that a pole had impaled the windshield and I likely struck my head on it. I have no recollection of that impact.

Soon after, emergency personnel arrived, and we were transported to the nearest hospital. Here, the miraculous aspects of our experience emerged. Remarkably, the glass roof of the Tesla remained intact despite the car rolling several times. However, the driver-side passenger window shattered upon impact. Had the roof glass also shattered, it is likely that our unbuckled teenagers could have been ejected from the vehicle. Another miracle is that although the pole struck my head, it did not penetrate my skull. Had it been just six inches lower, it could have pierced my neck, likely resulting in fatality. This same pole may have prevented our vehicle from flipping and crashing into parked semi-trucks.

It is nothing short of divine intervention that we all emerged from this accident without life-threatening injuries, including the young driver who collided with us at high speed. He also rolled his sedan multiple times, completely destroying his vehicle. I firmly believe that God spared us all that night. There is no other explanation for our survival in such a horrific incident. I am sharing this testimony to illustrate God’s goodness, mercy, and power. I want to demonstrate that miracles do happen here on Earth. While I could harbor anger over the lingering effects of this accident on our family, I trust that God has a plan and purpose for everything, all for His glory. If this incident leads even one person closer to God, it will have been worth it. I pray that my story inspires others to seek His goodness, trust in His will, and believe wholeheartedly in Him.
